â„šī¸ About

5 Dice is a play-together app. Create a room, share the lobby with friends, and play in real time from any phone, tablet, or computer — or use the Score Sheet to keep score for a game you're playing with real dice at the table.

🎲5 Dice

A five-dice, thirteen-turn game of luck and lock-in. 2–6 players.

How a turn works

  • Tap the roll button to roll all five dice. You get 3 rolls per turn.
  • After a roll, tap any die to hold it — held dice sit out the next roll. Tap again to release.
  • When you like your dice (or you're out of rolls), tap a category to claim it. You'll be asked to Commit or Undo.
  • Committing locks that category for the rest of the game and ends your turn. You get 13 turns, one per category.

Scoring

CategoryPoints
1's – 6'sSum of dice showing that number
Upper bonus35 if your upper total reaches 63
3 of a kindSum of all five dice
4 of a kindSum of all five dice
Full House25
Sm Strt (4 in a row)30
Lg Strt (5 in a row)40
5 Dice (all five match)50
ChanceSum of all five dice
Bonus 5's+100 each

If you don't meet the requirement for a category you can still claim it — you'll just take a zero there. Sometimes that's the right move to protect a category you still have a shot at.

Bonus 5's

You can't tap this one. Once you've scored 5 Dice for the full 50, every additional five-of-a-kind you roll adds +100 automatically.

The par indicator

Under the upper section you'll see something like +4, −3, or on par. Par is three of each number (3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18) — exactly the pace that lands you on 63 and earns the 35-point bonus. Positive means you're ahead of that pace.

Turns and the scorecard

Play rotates automatically. On your turn you see your own board; when it isn't your turn the screen switches to the shared scorecard with a column for every player, and the active player's column glows. The background of the screen always shows whoever's turn it is, in their color.

The game ends when everyone has filled all 13 categories. Highest grand total wins, ties are honored, and the winner gets confetti and the screen painted in their color. Each room keeps a running Room record of wins and ties, so a rematch means something.

⭕Tic-Tac-Toe

The classic 3×3 game, for exactly 2 players.

  • Whoever created the room plays X and goes first; the player who joins is O.
  • Tap any empty square on your turn. Three in a row — across, down, or diagonally — wins.
  • A full board with no line is a draw, shown as two-color stripes.
  • Sitting in a room alone? Taps alternate X and O so you can play both sides while you wait.

Wins and ties feed the same per-room Room record as 5 Dice.

📋5Dice Score Sheet

A shared digital scorecard for when you're rolling real dice around a real table. Everyone gets their own sheet, and every sheet in the room updates live on everyone's screen.

Getting in

  • Open it from this menu, then enter a Room #. Everyone at the table enters the same number.
  • Enter your name (at least 3 characters) and pick your color. If you've already set these in Settings, they carry over.

Entering scores

  • Upper boxes (1's–6's) tap to cycle up by that number. Tapping 3's goes 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, then back to blank.
  • Fixed categories cycle blank → 0 → the value: Full House 25, Sm Str 30, Lg Str 40, 5 Dice 50.
  • Bonus 5's adds 100 per tap.
  • Chance, 3 of a Kind, and 4 of a Kind open a number picker, since those can be anything.
The Lock switch. Your sheet is locked by default so a stray thumb can't rewrite a score. Unlock it to make changes — it re-locks itself after 30 seconds.

While you play

  • The Leader Board ranks everyone in the room by grand total, with turns remaining in parentheses. Tap a name to view their sheet.
  • Toasts announce who joined, who left, and what people scored.
  • Clear wipes your sheet to start a fresh game.
  • Prefer computer dice? Long-press (or right-click) anywhere for the menu and turn on Dice for a 3D roller.
  • When everyone is out of turns, the top score gets confetti.
🏠The Lobby

Rooms

  • Create a New Game Room to name a room, pick the game, and set how many players you're waiting for. Your room card shows up in your color.
  • Tap any card with seats left to join. Seats are claimed atomically, so two people can never grab the same last seat.
  • Play starts when the room fills — or the host can tap Start now once at least 2 people are in.
  • Games in progress are hidden from everyone but their players. If you're mid-game, your room shows a Rejoin Game card.
  • The host can delete a room with the ✕ when nobody else is in it, or after it's gone idle for 15 minutes.
  • Rooms nobody enters for 48 hours are removed automatically, so the lobby doesn't fill up with abandoned games.

Chat

The lobby chat is deliberately temporary. Messages fade after about five minutes (system notices after one), so it's for "anyone up for a game?" rather than a conversation you come back to. Messages are tinted with each sender's color. On a phone, tap the chat to expand it and Lobby → to collapse it.

Display name and color

Your name and color follow you everywhere — chat, room cards, the scorecard, the winner's background, and the Score Sheet. Pick something you'll recognize at a glance.

Skin

Three looks, applied to every screen in both the game and the Score Sheet:

  • Original — the navy-and-charcoal look the app has always had.
  • Glass Dark — frosted, translucent panels floating on near-black.
  • Steampunk — brass and copper on dark leather, with serif headings.

Your skin is saved on the device and applies the moment you pick it. Your chosen color stays exactly as you set it in every skin, so you're always easy to spot on the scorecard.

Hints

On: unscored categories show what your current dice would be worth, and the ones worth taking are highlighted. Good for learning the game or playing fast.

Off (the default): a plain scoresheet. You do the math, same as with paper. Purists start here.

Player ID

Your Player ID is who the app thinks you are. It lives on the device, so by default your phone and your laptop are two different players. To make them the same person:

  • On the device you want to keep, tap the copy button next to the ID.
  • On the other device, open Settings, paste it in, and tap Update Player ID.
  • Confirm the warning — the second device takes on that identity and reloads.
This one is permanent. Whatever history lived on the device you're changing gets replaced by the history on the ID you pasted in.
📱Installing the app

5 Dice and the Score Sheet both install to your home screen and run full-screen with no browser chrome.

  • iPhone / iPad: tap Share âŦ†ī¸ in Safari, then Add to Home Screen.
  • Android / Chrome: menu → Install app (or Add to Home screen).
  • Desktop: the install icon at the right edge of the address bar.

The screen stays awake while you're in the lobby or in a game, so it won't dim mid-turn.
